How to test a controller in your browser
- Connect your gamepad to the computer with a USB data cable or a supported wireless connection. A charge-only cable cannot carry controller input.
- Keep this page active and press a controller button. The browser may wait for this interaction before exposing the connected gamepad.
- Press, hold and release each button and trigger separately. Compare its reported value while pressed and after release. Not every button provides a gradual pressure value.
- Move both analog sticks slowly, then let go. Watch the axis values and stick positions. If several controllers are connected, select the controller you want from the tabs above the readings.
- Where the relevant controls appear, try circularity and vibration separately. A missing vibration option alone does not establish that the controller is faulty.
Button numbers may differ from the labels printed on your controller. Identify an input by pressing its physical button and watching the response. The controller is tested on the device running this browser; you do not need to launch a console game.
PS5, PS4, Xbox and PC gamepad testing
PS5 DualSense controller test
To test a PS5 controller on PC, connect your DualSense with a USB-C data cable or a compatible Bluetooth connection. Once detected, check its reported buttons, analog sticks and triggers. This tool is not a complete test of adaptive triggers, the microphone, battery health or game-specific PS5 haptic effects.
PS4 DualShock 4 controller test
For a PS4 controller test on a computer, try a compatible micro-USB data cable. Watch each button input and the analog axis values. Releasing and pressing the same button again helps you inspect an input that appears stuck. Wireless support depends on your operating system and browser.
Xbox One and Series X|S controller test
Connect your Xbox controller using a method supported by your system, then press a button. Check the face buttons, bumpers, triggers and both sticks individually. Controller remapping software can cause the browser to report a virtual device name or a different button layout.
PC and USB gamepad test
A PC gamepad must be exposed to the browser by the operating system. Standard-mapped controllers can use the stick display and circularity controls; other mappings may report different button and axis counts or orders. Detecting a controller does not imply that every one of its features is available.
How to check analog stick drift and circularity
For a stick drift test, place the controller on a stable surface and leave both sticks untouched. Observe each axis value and the dot relative to the center. Move and release the stick in several directions, then repeat. Persistent movement or inconsistent return to center is worth investigating, but a small nonzero reading alone is not proof of a hardware fault.
Enable the circularity test and rotate the stick slowly around its outer edge through a complete circle. The displayed average error depends on the input recorded during that run. It is not a definitive health certificate or a standardized laboratory result. Sensor design, calibration, hand movement and the connection can affect what you observe.

Why is my connected controller not detected?
Press a controller button, keep this page active, and check that your cable supports data. Verify detection in your operating system, browser support and input permissions for this page. Remapping software may also create a separate virtual controller.
Can I test a PS5 or PS4 controller without installing software?
Yes, the browser test needs no app installation or account when the system exposes your controller as a gamepad. A compatible wired connection is a useful starting point on a computer. Available features vary between browsers and connection types.
What does a PS5, PS4 or Xbox stick drift test show?
It shows current analog axis values and stick position relative to the center. Release the stick and repeat the observation for a meaningful comparison. These readings alone do not identify the hardware cause or establish that a repair is necessary.
Why is there no vibration button?
The browser must expose a vibration actuator for your controller. Connection, driver or browser limitations can prevent this. The available rumble test is not equivalent to every DualSense haptic or adaptive trigger effect.
Does the gamepad tester work on a phone?
It can work when the phone, connection and browser support your controller and gamepad input. Open this page and press a controller button. Detection and vibration are not guaranteed on every mobile device.
Is the test free, and are controller readings uploaded?
The test is free and requires no login. Controller input is read in your browser. This version of the tester does not upload controller details to an external statistics service.
